A wedding, a henna night, a celebration dinner: an evening bag is held in the hand or worn on the shoulder all night, and it shows in every photo. Here are our handmade evening bags and clutches, from the small bag covered in beads to embroidered velvet with a fringe. Each design exists once or in a very small series: the one you choose will not turn up at the next table.

Five kinds of evening bag

Beaded bags (€45 to €129): white, black or amber-tone beads woven over the whole body, gold-tone or silver-tone frames, from the 10 cm minaudière to the rectangular bag that holds a phone.

Embroidered velvet bags (€115 and €125): burgundy velvet embroidered with a bouquet of beads and crystals, or with leaves and diamanté and a long gold-tone fringe.

Japanese knot bags (€95): floral brocade or marbled fabric knotted through a gold-tone ring worn on the wrist, finished with a fringe.

Beaded satin pouch bags (€65 and €109): black or ivory satin gathered with a drawstring, embroidered or trimmed with beads, on a gold-tone chain.

Clutches (€49 to €120): gold-embroidered velvet, floral brocade on a chain, velvet with diamanté, emerald green metallic fabric, python effect with a wrist strap.

Which bag for which wedding

Guest, evening wedding: a black beaded bag or embroidered velvet, with a plain dress.

Guest, daytime or garden wedding: white beads, a bucket bag, or a Japanese knot bag in pale brocade.

Mother of the bride: a chain bag that leaves your hands free to greet guests, in velvet or beads.

Register office bride or engagement: ivory satin and pearlescent beads.

What fits inside

Most of our bags are 20 to 23 cm wide and 12 to 16 cm high: a standard phone, a lipstick, a card and keys. The minaudière (10 × 8 cm) holds only the essentials; the rectangular white beaded bag (20 × 25 cm) takes a phone with ease. Exact dimensions are on each product page.

Handmade, piece by piece

The beads are woven row by row, the embroidery stitched one motif at a time, the fringes set by hand. No two bags of the same design are ever quite identical. More about our atelier.

Care

Store the bag flat in a fabric dust bag, away from light and damp. Beads: a soft brush, never water. Velvet: a soft brush, no steam on the embroidery. Satin and brocade: a dry cloth or dry cleaning.

Frequently asked questions

Clutch or evening bag?

A clutch is held in the hand and stays flat; an evening bag has a frame, a handle or a chain and leaves your hands free. For an evening of dancing, or a wedding where you’ll be greeting lots of people, choose a chain.

What colour bag with a coloured dress?

A bright neutral: white beads, black and gold, or silver-tone. The bag picks up a colour from your jewellery, not from the dress.

Are the chains detachable?

On several designs, such as the embroidered velvet bags and the metallic bag; each product page says so.

Can I give an evening bag as a gift?
